The fragility of success
The 27 Club refers to popular musicians who died at age 27, often as a result of drug and alcohol abuse, or violent means such as homicide or suicide. The high number of musicians who have died at this age and the circumstances of death have given the inspiration for this biographical book collection. Through a polygonal portrait technique these book covers attempt to represent the magnificence of their talent contrasting with the fragility of life, which is emulated by their image shattering like glass. The covers seek to evoke the emotions of middle age readers who connect with the kind of music created by these great but tragic artists.
